Bennie J`s Smoke Pit in Huntsville

Outstanding scene for quality BBQ. Very delicious. Fast and courteous service. The place has an awesome feel to it. Reminds me of a cafe in Chicago I liked to visit.

Bennie J's is easily the best BBQ I've had in the state of TX and I've tried most if not all between Houston and Dallas, and Houston and New Orelans. Staff is always friendly and food is always on point, if you haven't stopped by here yet you should do yourself a favor and visit.

This is good BBQ. Get there early, because they seem to sell out pretty quickly. The brisket has a nice smoke ring and is fairly tender and the jalapeno sausage is a good balance of spicy, savory, and smokey and has fairly fine texture. Unfortunately, they were out of ribs when I was there, so I can't review those. The sauce is thin, smoky, and vinegary in the Texas style. Not the best sauce I've ever had, I prefer a little more peppery heat, but good.

You'd never know this place was here! Your dictionary definition off-the-beaten-path, locally owned joint. Great service, great good! If you're in, or near Huntsville, this is a must go-to! I had the brisket and jalapeno sausage with the potatto salad and cole slaw - tender, delicious brisket with good char and awesome sausage! Very Covid safe as well!
